BABES/SBE LUNCHEON ON WEDNESDAY
JUNE 24TH As usual our luncheon will be at Sinbad's. Sinbad's is just south of the
Ferry Building on the Embarcadero near the foot of Mission Street. Please
RSVP to Karen Prasek at Zack's: 408-324-0551 x126 as we've been running out of
tables and chairs. We meet at 11:30 and are seated at 12:30.
Our speaker this month will be Eric Lane. His topic is
the Avocet AV-2000 Delay Canceller. While the reporter in the field may be
blatant you don't also want him to be latent.
We are taking the position that when such a system is ready to go it must be tested at the model station to be certain that everything works.
Dolby AC-3 encoders look like they will be outboard for the time being. No one has been licensed to include the encoder as a module within their own system.
The plant production format, Dolby E, capable of multiple passes, won't be ready until 1999. AC-3 encoding is intended to be the last thing the audio goes through before it goes to the transmitter.
Member of SBE, AES, and SMPTE. Resume available on request. Art Lebermann - (510) 865-1658 e-mail: [email protected] |
Bill Dempster's niece Elisa is 8 years old. He says she whipped out the adjacent drawing in about 10 minutes. Fantastic! The old master did this one. |
